Associate / Senior Associate/Legal Director – Commercial Real Estate

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Real Estate Associate/Senior Associate or Legal Director (6+ PQE) to join a highly regarded and growing Edinburgh-based real estate team.
This role offers the chance to work on complex, high-profile development transactions across Scotland, advising a strong client base that includes residential developers, housing associations, landowners, care home operators and investors. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting residential-led development projects that contribute to addressing Scotland’s housing needs.
The Opportunity
You will join a collaborative and supportive team with a strong market reputation in commercial real estate and development work. The position offers genuine scope for progression alongside exposure to sophisticated transactions and direct client engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a broad range of commercial real estate transactions
- Leading land acquisition and disposal deals for private developers and public sector clients
- Advising on greenfield and brownfield developments, turnkey and golden brick transactions
- Drafting and negotiating development-related agreements including:
- Promotion Agreements
- Option Agreements
- Joint Venture Agreements
- Preparing Deeds of Conditions and DMS documentation for new developments
- Supporting corporate transactions through property due diligence work
- Assisting with supervision and development of junior team members
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of 6 years’ PQE within commercial real estate
- Strong technical knowledge of Scottish property law
- Experience handling transactions from instruction to completion
- A commercial and proactive approach to client work
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills
- Experience in development, investment, asset management and/or corporate support work
- Strong client relationship management skills
