Our client, a highly regarded Scottish law firm with a long-established presence in the rural sector, is seeking a Rural Property Solicitor to join its specialist property team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who enjoys building strong client relationships and wants to work on significant, high-value transactions within Scotland's rural economy. The role offers a rare combination of quality work, genuine flexibility and a supportive team environment.

The Opportunity

Working as part of an experienced rural property team, you will advise farmers, landowners and rural business owners across Scotland on a broad range of property matters.

The focus of the role is on the purchase and sale of farms, estates and land, with transactions typically ranging in value from £1 million to £6 million. Matters are often complex and varied, requiring a commercial and pragmatic approach, but with a lower transaction volume than many traditional property roles. You will also be involved in executry related conveyancing with a focus on rural properties.

You will work directly with clients whose property interests are integral to their businesses, becoming a trusted adviser on significant transactions and long-term land ownership matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Advising on the purchase and sale of farms, estates and rural landholdings.
• Managing high-value transactions typically ranging from £1 million to £6 million.
• Working closely with farmers, landowners and rural business operators throughout Scotland.
• Collaborating with experienced rural property specialists within a supportive team environment.
• Handling complex title and conveyancing matters, including rural and historic title issues where applicable.
• Contributing to the development of long-standing client relationships.

Candidate Profile

Applications are welcomed from solicitors with a background in:

• Rural Property
• Commercial Property
• Renewable Energy Property
• Residential Conveyancing

Previous exposure to rural property matters would be advantageous but is not essential.

Experience dealing with Sasine titles would be particularly beneficial, although training and support will be available for the right candidate.

A family background in agriculture, farming or a rural business environment would be highly regarded. Equally, candidates with a genuine interest in the rural sector and a desire to develop specialist expertise in this area are encouraged to apply.
