We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join a growing Construction business in Livingston. This is a senior finance leadership role with responsibility for monthly reporting, process improvement, and systems development, working closely with the senior management team. The successful candidate will bring strong construction sector experience and hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, playing a key role in driving financial control, insight, and operational efficiency across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly management accounts process, delivering accurate and timely financial reporting
- Own and improve core finance processes, controls, and reporting workflows
- Play a lead role in a systems implementation/optimisation, with Business Central at the centre
- Provide commercial and financial insight to support operational and strategic decision-making
- Oversee job costing, WIP, and margin analysis within a construction environment
- Lead the annual audit process, acting as the primary point of contact for external auditors
- Manage and develop the finance team, setting best practice standards
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management
About You
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager
- Construction sector experience is essential (contracting, civils, housebuilding, or related)
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Strong understanding of WIP, job costing, and project accounting
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent experience
- Confident leading change, process improvement, and systems initiatives
- Strong communicator, comfortable working with senior stakeholders
