The Role: The Lush Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing business as a whole and driving improvements in the way the production facility runs. Develop and execute an effective manufacturing strategy to support current sales, profitability targets and future growth whilst ensuring compliance with local and international regulatory requirements. Maintain and improve our safety culture, ensuring we always put people’s health and wellbeing at the centre of our plans. Ensure the products that are produced locally are of the highest quality and meet the standards of the customer, and are as per the technical specifications set by the UK parent company. Develop a performance culture throughout the business and constantly strive for improvements in quality and productivity. Develop and maintain engagement through effective coaching, development and training strategies for all levels of the business.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversee operations of the production floor as required to identify any training opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain a safe working environment free of risks to team members and assist the development of the company’s workplace health and safety program, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Working with and maintaining GMP standards as a self-certified manufacturer.
  • Motivate and train the team to prioritise and schedule production in line with store demand, and drive accountability with a focus on local and global KPI’s.
  • Manage the recruitment, induction and training of staff.
  • Maintain the standard work procedures for each production room and ensure all operations comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial budget projections, including capital expenditure for the production facility.
  • Ensure all Business Units within the business maintain and implement scheduled maintenance programs for all machinery and production equipment.
  • Coordinate the launches of new products, seasonal and limited edition products with other departments to maximise sales and profitability.
  • Ensure raw materials, packaging and sundries are supplied to meet sales trends and demand, whilst maintaining our freshness standards.
  • Assist with managing the production room managers and effectively coach, motivate and inspire managers and their teams to succeed.
  • Monitor the marketplace and competitors, keeping the production support team and directors informed of developments in the industry and new opportunities available.
  • Ensure that all reporting required for the production facility is produced to meet the required deadlines.
  • Ensure that sourcing, manufacture and distribution of our products meets the highest environmental standards.
  • Continually seek out new ways of doing things, bringing inspiration from within the UK business and global Lush counterparts.
  • Lead key business projects, such as the installation of manual handling equipment in the production rooms.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities, as may be required from time to time to meet the changing needs of the business.
