Lush Spa is looking for passionate and enthusiastic staff members who wish to train and qualify in body massage with a view to a career as a hybrid Lush Spa therapist. The hybrid role allows the person to work within the spa and also drive sales and business from the shop floor, spa reception or elsewhere within the Spa Store. This advertisement is for a place on the VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Swedish Body Massage qualification course only. Upon completion of the course, the applicant will undertake a hybrid role within the spa store.
Course Outline and Requirements
This is a unique opportunity to earn an internationally recognised Level 3 qualification in Swedish Body Massage, governed by the external body VTCT. Candidates should bring a wealth of knowledge and experience from their time with Lush, as well as a deep understanding and true passion for our Spa treatments and concepts. For multilingual applicants, the course requires a good level of spoken and written English, as it is led and assessed in this language.
Course Outline
- Self‑study topics include the following units, which require completion on the learner’s own time and unpaid:
- Health and Safety Unit
- Client Care and Communication Unit
- How to provide a Swedish Body Massage Unit

- Anatomy and Physiology - 10 Body systems

Upcoming Training Schedule
- Self‑led theory training (online/virtual) - Commences Monday, 7 September, Monday‑Friday 9am‑2pm for 3 weeks.
- Teacher‑led theory training (online/virtual) - Commences Monday, 5 October, Monday‑Friday 9am‑2pm for 3 weeks.
- Practical training (on‑site Poole) - Commences Monday, 26 October 2026, Monday‑Friday 8.30am‑4.30pm for 3 weeks.
- Compulsory Lush Spa Training - Commences 16 November 2026, Monday‑Friday 8am‑4pm for 3/4 weeks, dependent on spa needs.
Course Requirements: Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Be fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- At least three months experience working within Lush.
- No previous massage qualifications required; a keen interest in anatomy & physiology is a bonus.
- Be available for nine weeks of training (see schedule above).
- Embodies Lush five‑star standards, customer service & ethics.
- Organised, resourceful and adaptable.
- Basic understanding of IT equipment and ability to submit work online.
- Proactive with self‑development and learning.
- Proven record of punctuality and reliability.
- Previous shop‑floor or spa roles are a bonus.
Cardiff Availability Requirements
Available at least one weekend day and Fridays; depending on contract, work around 1‑2 full spa days per week with remaining shifts flexing to shop‑floor demand.
Hours and Workload
- Theory training: 22.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday.
- Practicals: 37.5+ hours per week, Monday‑Friday.
- Homework: unpaid and completed in own time.
Accommodation
Provided by Lush when training in Poole.
Travel
Travel to and from Poole organised and funded by Lush. Other travel discussed with management and at employee or store expense.
Relocation
Packages discussed once a spa contract is offered; accommodation arrangements provided post‑confirmation.
Spa Contract
Upon completing the VTCT qualification, you will sign a spa training contract. Lush expects you to remain in a hybrid therapist role for 12 months after finishing. Failure to complete the period may require repayment of a portion of the training costs.
