Sustainability Consultant – 9-month fixed term contract
About Sustainability and Impact at Luminous and the role
Luminous is a strategic advisory and communications agency based in London and working with clients around the world. We have been building the Sustainability & Impact (S&I) offer in recent years, moving from a solid base of award-winning reporting to a diversified suite of services, including materiality assessments, strategy development, implementation and internal engagement.
We are now an established team of four with a growing pipeline and an enviable client list and expect to double revenue over the next couple of years. To support our growing number of clients we are seeking a sustainability consultant to contribute to the development and delivery of Luminous’ sustainability reporting and materiality offer.

Key responsibilities
Deliver exceptional reporting projects
- Support the development of corporate sustainability reports, including developing reporting concepts, structure, key messaging, and overall content, as well as liaising with copywriters, the creative team and account management.
- Advise clients on the application of reporting standards and frameworks such as CSRD, GRI, TPT, TCFD, UNGC, ISSB, and UN SDGs.
- Advise clients on the changing nature of voluntary guidance and forthcoming policy and regulation as it pertains to sustainability reporting.
- Support the development and delivery of issue-based reports such as climate transition plans and standalone social impact reports.
Drive robust and credible materiality Assessments
- Support the development and delivery of double materiality assessments to inform report content and sustainability strategy development.
- Support stakeholder interviews and evaluation.
Undertake decision useful research
- Conduct desk-based benchmarking and research on clients, sectors, and market trends.
- Synthesize research findings into key themes, analyse information to develop conclusions and draft recommendations for client deliverables.
- Lead and develop our repository and knowledge of reporting standards and frameworks, and associated sustainability policies and regulation.
Build successful client relationships
- Participate in client meetings and workshops, building trust and spotting opportunities to deliver value.
- Actively support clients with their challenges, being a go to partner for client teams.
Skills, experience, and attributes
- 3-5 years of demonstrated experience with ESG reporting and materiality assessments.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards such as the GRI Standards, CSRD/ESRS, ISSB, TCFD, UNGC, and UN SDGs.
- You are positive, friendly and a team player who can help motivate colleagues and inspire others around you
- You have a can-do attitude with the ability to multi-task across different projects
- You can work both autonomously and as part of a team, being organised and possessing great attention to detail, to deliver the highest standards of output while working across multiple projects
- You are attentive and committed to clients’ needs, can be flexible in approach and always offer solutions to problems
