The Role
As Superintendent Pharmacist, you will take full professional and clinical responsibility for the company’s UK pharmacy function. This is a pivotal leadership role where you’ll oversee the compliance, quality, and operational scaling of one of the UK’s most innovative medical cannabis pharmacies. You’ll lead and grow the pharmacy team, implement scalable systems, ensure full regulatory compliance, and help shape the strategy of a business at the forefront of regulated healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with GPhC regulations and lead the delivery of safe, patient-centred pharmaceutical services
- Oversee all professional, clinical, and operational pharmacy activities
- Design, implement, and continuously improve SOPs across all pharmacy processes
- Lead a growing team of pharmacists and dispensers, ensuring performance, training, and compliance standards
- Implement automation and tech-forward workflows to increase operational efficiency
- Own the Responsible Pharmacist duties, including maintenance of Pharmacy and Prescription Records
- Manage controlled substances in line with UK CD regulations and best practices
- Collaborate with supply chain, commercial, and wholesaling teams to ensure seamless importation, storage, and distribution
- Act as the key liaison with the MHRA, GPhC, and other regulatory stakeholders
- Monitor and report on medicines usage, purchasing practices, and cost-efficiency metrics
- Contribute to commercial strategy by aligning pharmacy operations with business growth objectives
- Drive continuous improvement in line with both patient experience and operational scale
Ideal Candidate Profile
- UK-qualified Superintendent Pharmacist with an active GPhC registration is a must.
- 5+ years’ experience managing high-volume pharmacy operations (preferably from Boots, Lloyds Pharmacy, Superdrug, or equivalent)
- Proven success in scaling small pharmacy outlets into larger integrated operations
- Deep knowledge of UK pharmacy law, SOP governance, GPhC inspections, and clinical governance
- Experience managing teams, workflows, and regulatory complexity in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable implementing digital and automated dispensing systems
- A hands-on, solutions-oriented leader with high attention to detail and a patient-first mindset
- Excellent communication skills; able to liaise with both internal stakeholders and external regulators
Compensation
- Competitive base salary in the range of £90,000 – £120,000, depending on experience
