Lumino Technologies is pioneering next generation satellite optical and quantum technologies through innovative engineering solutions. We aim to enable future quantum networks and provide global connectivity in optical communications. We are looking for a quantum/optical systems engineer to join us at this exciting stage of our growth to work on a variety of projects and provide both software and hardware engineering support to the company.
We are a dynamic and fast-growing SME and are looking for motivated individuals keen to grow with us and work on cutting-edge future technologies. You’ll be trusted to manage your own work, supported by colleagues who are approachable and highly capable in their fields. We maintain a balance between autonomy and collaboration, with regular technical discussion and knowledge sharing.
The role will involve optical and quantum engineering, both from a theoretical and practical perspective, including but not limited to:
- Leading optical laboratory work, hands-on and experimental preparation, and data analysis
- Producing quantum-optical system requirements, designs, and verification plans
- Performing simulation and performance assessment of satellite quantum networks
- Supporting technical proposals as necessary
We are looking for applicants with the following skills and experience.
Essential:
- Educated to at least master's level in engineering or related discipline.
- Practical experience working autonomously in an optical laboratory and running experiments.
- Experience in writing SW for experimentation and/or production systems.
- Background in quantum information/optics and good understanding of quantum technology systems.
- Good data collection, algorithm development, and analytical skills.
- Desire to work on new technologies and concepts.
- Ability to work in UK immediately.
Desired:
- Experience in system engineering processes and project delivery.
- Proficiency in Python and MATLAB.
Location: Based in Edinburgh. Candidates must be willing to travel as required.
