We’re looking for an experienced Configuration Manager to join our team and play a key role in maintaining robust configuration management processes across a complex project environment.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring the consistency, integrity and traceability of systems, software, infrastructure and associated documentation throughout the project lifecycle. This includes managing Configuration Items (CIs), change control, releases, documentation and configuration management tools.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Configuration Management
    • Own and maintain the project Configuration Management Plan.
    • Implement and oversee configuration management processes, tools and methodologies to ensure data consistency and integrity.
    • Manage configuration data repositories, including appropriate access controls.
    • Ensure configuration information is accurately recorded and maintained across relevant internal and customer systems.
  • Change Management
    • Manage change control across project deliverables.
    • Participate in customer Change Control Boards, understanding proposed changes and assessing their impact on project deliverables.
    • Ensure changes are appropriately documented, controlled and traceable.
  • Release Management
    • Work closely with the Quality Assurance Engineer to prepare deliverables for release.
    • Maintain and store associated release documentation.
    • Release project documentation and track its receipt and acceptance.
  • Governance & Compliance
    • Ensure configuration activities comply with internal policies, security standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct audits to ensure adherence to configuration management policies and processes.
    • Produce configuration status reports covering baselines, design changes, discrepancies and concessions.
  • Tools & Systems
    • Manage internal configuration management tools and repositories.
    • Define and agree processes for the effective use of customer Configuration Management Databases (CMDBs).
  • Collaboration
    • Work closely with IT, DevOps, engineering, quality and wider project teams to maintain consistency across environments.
    • Provide guidance, training and support to colleagues on configuration management processes and tools.

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous Configuration Management experience within a complex engineering, technology or project environment.
  • The ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools and systems.
  • A strong understanding of Configuration Management standards, including DEF STAN 05-57, DEF STAN 05-61 and ISO 10007.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
