The Role
As Financial Controller, you will lead the finance function, providing both strategic and operational financial support to the Partnership Board and senior leadership team. Based in Colchester, you will also regularly attend the Billericay office and occasionally travel to other UK locations. You will be responsible for building and developing a high-performing finance team while ensuring robust financial management, reporting accuracy, and insightful analysis that drives business performance.
Please note: Due to the nature of the work, you must hold or be eligible to obtain UK SC Clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Managing Partner, Partnership Board, and senior leadership
- Support and shape financial strategy to optimise business performance
- Deliver accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting
- Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring strong capability and succession planning
- Provide financial analysis to support strategic decisions and business growth
- Maintain robust financial systems, processes, and controls
- Oversee cash flow, credit control, and capital expenditure
- Lead budgeting processes and present annual budgets
- Prepare and submit statutory accounts, liaising with auditors
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Manage insurance renewals and support risk management
- Produce KPI reporting and financial performance analysis
- Support margin analysis and project costing
- Maintain relationships with banking partners and external stakeholders
- Oversee pension schemes and governance
- Act as Company Secretary
- Present financial insights to senior boards
About You
Essential
- Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
- Strong accounting and numerical expertise
- Highly analytical and data-driven mindset
- Ability to translate complex financial data into clear insights
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance
- Experience with Sage 200
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing finance teams
- Proactive, organised, and focused on continuous improvement
