Keighley College are seeking a Teacher of Vocational Studies to deliver high-quality, practical teaching. You will support learners to develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed for employment or further training in trade-based areas.

A key part of the role is to support learners of varying abilities, including those with additional learning needs, by adapting teaching methods and providing clear, structured guidance in a safe workshop or classroom environment. You will help learners develop essential employability skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and time management.

What You Will Do
  • Ensure that the preparation, marking, assessment and moderation are completed promptly and efficiently within agreed timescales.
  • Effectively manage the delivery of vocational units for each individual learner, including appropriate support where necessary.
  • Continuously demonstrate a commitment towards further professional development including the application of new technologies to improve the effectiveness of learning management.
  • Ensure that EHCPs are updated and reviewed regularly.

  • You will be able to deliver engaging, hands-on learning experiences linked to trade-related subjects, helping students build both practical skills and workplace behaviours.
  • You will be patient, adaptable, and able to create a safe and inclusive learning environment where learners feel confident to develop and practise new skills.
  • You will have strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with learners, acting as a role model and supporting them to develop confidence, resilience, and a strong work ethic.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and support staff, you will track progress, provide guidance, and help learners achieve their qualifications and progress into further training, apprenticeships, or employment.
