We are seeking a variable hour GCSE English Teacher to support the effective delivery of English teaching across our study programmes. Working collaboratively with teaching staff, developing high-quality teaching resources, promoting innovative practices, and enhancing learner engagement and outcomes, the English teacher will play a key role in supporting teaching staff with the implementation of curriculum strategies, inclusive pedagogy, and diagnostic interventions.

What You Will Do

Support the planning, delivery and review of engaging, inclusive, and effective English sessions across all relevant programmes.

Work alongside English teachers and course leaders to model and share best teaching practices, with a focus on active learning, assessment for learning, and scaffolding techniques.

Facilitate small group interventions or individual learner support to improve outcomes and address learning gaps.

Collaborate on the development of teaching resources, schemes of work, and formative assessment tools.

Monitor learner progress and contribute to the implementation of improvement strategies for underperforming learners or groups.

Support initial and diagnostic assessment processes and interpret results to inform teaching strategies

Promote the use of digital tools and technology to enhance teaching, learning and assessment in English.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant curriculum developments, including Functional Skills, GCSE, and other English qualifications.

Contribute to the college’s strategy for improving English outcomes and raising aspirations.

About You

The ideal candidate will:

Have recognised Level 3 or above qualification in English.

Experience supporting learners or delivering English content in an educational setting.

Knowledge of current curriculum frameworks (e.g. GCSE, Functional Skills).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly within a team.

A commitment to inclusive education and improving learner outcomes.

Teaching qualification (e.g. Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or PGCE).

Experience using digital learning platforms and tools.

Understanding of data-informed teaching and learning practices.

Familiarity with quality assurance processes within FE.
