The Student Wellbeing Adviser plays a key part in creating a supportive, inclusive and empowering environment for students across Leeds Conservatoire and University Centre Leeds. You will work closely with the Health & Wellbeing team to monitor student progression, identify emerging support needs and provide one-to-one guidance on wellbeing, mental health, academic challenges and navigating university life. The role blends individual casework, workshop delivery, community-building activities and collaboration with internal teams and external partners. You will help shape a service that is proactive, responsive and rooted in compassion, belonging and student success.
What You Will Do:
- Work within the Health and Wellbeing team and in collaboration with staff across Leeds Conservatoire & University Centre Leeds to monitor student progression, identify emerging support needs, and contribute to strategies that enhance student success.
- Manage a caseload of students, providing regular one-to-one support and delivering workshops focused on wellbeing, mental health, emotional issues, lifestyle, time management, academic challenges, and navigating conservatoire processes and regulations.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of service delivery to ensure high-quality, responsive support.
- Support the planning and delivery of student events and social activities that promote engagement, inclusion, and a strong sense of community.
- Recognise when specialist support is required and make appropriate internal or external referrals where necessary.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with external organisations and partner agencies to support student needs and wellbeing.
About You:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or relevant experience.
- Strong communication skills, empathy and the confidence to work with students from a wide range of backgrounds, including those who are underrepresented in higher education.
- Comfortable managing a caseload, building trust, and offering practical and emotional support.
- Your approach will be flexible, student-centred and grounded in equality, inclusion and safeguarding.
- Enjoy problem-solving, collaborating with colleagues, and using data and feedback to improve services.
