Leeds City College are recruiting for a Attendance and Engagement Officer for the Future Pathways team. This is a specialist department that supports young people with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and other high-needs learners, typically aged between 16 to 24 years old. Our main goal is to help students develop the skills, confidence, qualifications, and work experience needed to move into further education, training, or employment.
* Actual annual salary for 37 hours per week over 40 weeks is commencing at 24,515 with progression to 25,133
What You Will Do- Monitor and analyse departmental attendance daily, ensuring registers are completed accurately and on time.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and external agencies through meetings, home visits, and ongoing communication to improve attendance and engagement.
- Provide pastoral support to students on an individual and group basis, helping to identify and overcome barriers to learning and achievement.
- Work closely with safeguarding, pastoral, and teaching staff to support students with attendance, welfare, and safeguarding concerns, liaising with relevant external professionals when required.
- English and Maths at Level 2, with relevant qualifications (or willingness to undertake training) to support disengaged and disadvantaged young people.
- Mentoring, Teaching Assistant and/or safeguarding qualifications, or a commitment to work towards obtaining them.
- Experience of supporting and delivering interventions to disengaged and disadvantaged young people in a one-to-one or in a small-group setting.
- An understanding of the barriers to attendance and engagement, with the ability to implement effective interventions and build positive, impactful relationships.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Highly organised and adaptable, with strong administrative and IT skills, the ability to manage priorities effectively, and work independently as well as part of a team.
