Are you passionate about food and eager to begin a career in catering within a supportive environment? We are seeking a committed Apprentice Level 2 Food Production Chef to join our college catering team. This role offers hands-on experience alongside trained professionals, the opportunity to develop practical kitchen skills, and achieve a nationally recognised qualification while supporting high-quality food provision for students and staff. You will also gain a Level 2 Food Production Chef qualification. This is a Fixed Term contract for 18 months (duration of the apprenticeship).
Apprenticeship pay rates for this post are dependent on age:
- Under 18 years: £14,874 per annum
- 18-20 years: £19,600 per annum
- 21+ years: £23,555 per annum
What You Will Do:
- Ensure customers are given a prompt and efficient service and expectations are consistently exceeded.
- Work alongside the kitchen and front of house team to prepare and serve freshly cooked and prepared food.
- Maintain the highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene in all areas of the kitchen.
- Ensure food safety requirements are adhered to at all times and all due diligence records are completed accurately.
- Responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
- Serve customers professionally and politely.
- Take payments from customers and operate a till.
- Able to work occasional evenings and weekends to support functions and events.
About You:
- Experience and knowledge of working within the Hospitality Sector.
- Experience in dealing with/serving customers.
- Experience of working positively with young people and adults.
- Ability to follow instructions and guidance given by the chef manager.
- Ability to follow food hygiene systems and monitor due diligence records.
