The School of Travel, Food and Drink, based at the historic Printworks campus is looking for an enthusiastic Course Leader for our level 2 and Level 3 Culinary and professional cookery courses.

Travel, Food and Drink offers a number of courses for all ages and abilities, ranging from Entry 3 to Level 3 extended programmes of study.

We are looking for an organised and experienced Teacher/Course Leader to lead the full and part time professional culinary and cookery courses. You should have industry experience and be able to demonstrate skills in course management, meeting learner needs, and monitoring and driving attendance to ensure successful outcomes.

What You Will Do

  • You will be responsible for retention, achievement, progress/value added, attendance and positive progression rates for an identified course or courses.
  • Maintaining high quality and effective delivery across the course team.
  • Developing new modules, units and course.
  • Responsible for developing new units, modules and courses in line with government policy, awarding organisation developments and student demand as well as local community, economic and employer requirements.
  • Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
  • Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources and assessment plans and ensure these are in place for all the course(s) teaching activity.
  • Help to ensure all team members maintain and update knowledge of the subject and / or vocational area.
  • Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression.
  • Reflect on what works best in teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of students and engage in scholarly activity.
  • Develop and adapt curriculum delivery with the course team to maximise its effectiveness and efficiency
  • Be responsible for recording student progress and meeting individual and group learner targets.
  • Develop and employ effective assessment activities and ensure student work is assessed with constructive and timely feedback provided that motivates and inspires students to improve and achieve.
  • Market courses and provide high quality IAG (including full participation in open days, transition activity, enrolment and induction).
  • Complete a course level self-assessment report and maintain the course quality improvement plan.
  • Carry out internal verification/moderation.

About You

  • We are looking for a self motivated and inspirational, industry specialist who has the skills and experience to teach across a level of different courses in addition to managing the daily needs of these particular curriculum areas.
  • You will be motivated to positivelymanage student and group progression to ensure positive outcomes for learners.
  • Managing the assessment of own courses and that of others who teach on your courses is a key aspect of the CL role, ensuring that IQA plans are in place and updated regularly to satisfy the EQA annual process
