About the Role

Keighley College are looking for an enthusiastic and inspiringPHSCE & Tutorial Teacherto join our Study Programmes department and play a key role in developing confident, resilient and work-ready young people.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead engaging tutorial and personal development sessions that go beyond the classroom, helping students develop theknowledge, behaviours and life skills they need to succeed in education, employment and wider society.

Working with students across our 16-19 Study Programmes, you will deliver a high-quality PHSCE and tutorial curriculum covering areas includingpersonal development, relationships and wellbeing, safeguarding, healthy lifestyles, equality and diversity, British values, careers, employability, financial awareness and preparation for adulthood.

You will create sessions that are relevant, challenging and engaging, responding to the needs of our students and the communities they live in. You will encourage discussion, challenge misconceptions and provide a safe environment where students can explore important issues and develop their confidence and independence.

Working closely with curriculum teams, pastoral colleagues, safeguarding, careers and external partners, you will ensure that tutorial is an integral part of each student’s Study Programme and contributes directly to theirattendance, engagement, progression and preparation for their next steps.

What You Will Do

• Plan and deliverengaging, relevant and inclusive PHSCE and tutorial sessionsto students across Study Programmes.
• Deliver key themes includingsafeguarding, healthy relationships, wellbeing, equality and diversity, British values, financial awareness, online safety and preparation for adulthood.
• Create opportunities for students to discuss and explorereal-world issuesin a safe, respectful and appropriately challenging environment.
• Support students to develop theirconfidence, resilience, independence, communication and decision-making skills.
• Embedcareers, employability and workplace behaviours, helping students understand the skills and attitudes employers value.
• Adapt teaching to meet a wide range of starting points, including students withSEND/High Needs and those who may face barriers to learning or participation.
• Use assessment, student voice and participation to understand theimpact of the tutorial curriculumand continually improve delivery.
• Work closely with curriculum teachers, pastoral teams, safeguarding, careers and support colleagues to provide ajoined-up student experience.
• Identify concerns relating to students’safeguarding, wellbeing, engagement or progressand ensure these are communicated and escalated appropriately.
• Contribute to enrichment, themed events, workshops and wider activities that make the Study Programme experienceengaging, ambitious and memorable.

• Be able to build strong, professional relationships with young people from awide range of backgrounds and starting points.
• Understand the barriers some young people face and be able tochallenge, motivate and inspirethem.
• Be creative in your approach, using real-life scenarios, debate, digital resources and external speakers to make learning meaningful.
• Have high expectations forattendance, behaviour, participation and personal development.
• Be able to adapt teaching to support learners withSEND/High Needs and differing levels of confidence and ability.
• Work collaboratively with curriculum, pastoral, safeguarding, careers and support teams.
• Be organised, reflective and committed to continually improving thequality and impact of the student experience.
