About the Role:
Keighley College are seeking an experienced Joinery Teacher with strong specialist knowledge, particularly in site joinery, to teach full‑time students in our fully equipped joinery workshop. This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding area of the curriculum that boasts continued learner success and achievement. As a Joiner or Carpenter, you will be required to teach learners across all modes of attendance and across all the levels of Joinery, Carpentry, and Construction. You will be required to teach the following types of programmes:
- 16 to 18-year-old Study Programmes.
- 19+ learners who are on Study Programmes.
- Up to Level 3 Carpentry and Joinery.
You will provide an excellent learning experience to ensure the individual learner gains the appropriate skills in readiness for further study, employment, or apprenticeship.
What You Will Do:
- Undertake teaching, learning, and assessment in joinery and carpentry.
- Provide current technical, industrial, professional or academic expertise in a skills priority and/or skills shortage area across joinery and carpentry practices in construction.
- Support the development of new curriculum content and courses in skills priority/skills shortage areas within construction.
- Share current and specialist expertise across the course delivery team (e.g. through regular communication and/or the delivery of high quality CPD and industrial updating).
- Plan, prepare, and develop schemes of learning (SoLs), teaching and learning resources, and assessment plans and help to ensure these are in place for all the course(s) teaching activity.
- Develop and employ effective assessment activities and ensure learner work is assessed with constructive and timely feedback provided that motivates and inspires learners to improve and achieve.
About You:
- Hold or be willing to work towards a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE) within a 2 year period.
- Hold a relevant vocational/technical qualification or degree in teaching subject.
- Be qualified and competent to teach up to Level 3 site joinery.
- Relevant recent experience in the subject sector area and clear expertise.
- Relevant up to date subject knowledge.
- Have an understanding of the Further Education or school sector.
