About the Role

Leeds City College are recruiting for a Teacher of Uniformed Public Services to join our team. The School of Public Services at Leeds City College supports over 400 students on courses from Level 1 to Level 3, preparing them for careers within the emergency services and armed forces and many more sectors. We don’t just teach in classrooms – our students learn resilience, confidence, and discipline through practical experience. Be part of an award-winning team! Responsibilities

  • Prepare for a career in a chosen uniformed service.
  • Carry out map reading and navigation across open country.
  • Emergency planning and response in the uniformed services.
  • Develop learners to make positive progress towards their career goals whilst developing skills and qualities that ensure they have successful outcomes.
  • Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, and learning and assessment plans.
  • Deliver inspiring sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods for identified modules.
  • Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
  • Record student progress.
  • Adapt curriculum delivery methods to maximise their effectiveness, including through the use of technology.

About You

  • Ability to inspire and motivate learners to achieve their optimum.
  • A passion for subjects that include topics relating to emergency services and the armed forces.
  • Relevant up-to-date subject knowledge from working in the services or recent delivery in the Further Education or school sector.
  • Recent teaching delivery demonstrates active learning and differentiated teaching styles in any setting.
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible towards the requirements of different learner needs.
