About the Role

Leeds City College are seeking a teacher to join our dynamic team in the Animal Care and Land Management department. In this role you will have the opportunity to deliver animal management lessons to students, as part of their programme of study. This role will be predominantly based at Temple Newsam, but on occasion there may be the requirement to also work at other campuses such as Printworks or the University Centre. Whilst this role doesn't include any practical delivery, the department is based in a working farm and historical estate so the successful candidate should like animals and be comfortable in a land‑based real work environment. The School of Animal Care and Land Management offers a wide range of study programmes, apprenticeships and Higher Education (HE). The department currently delivers courses from entry to level 6. Whilst this role will predominantly be working with Further Education (FE) students, we will require the successful candidate to demonstrate flexibility and be able to work with a variety of learners. We envisage this role starting in September 2026. This is a permanent full time position.

What You Will Do

  • Plan, prepare and develop effective schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources.
  • Deliver inspiring sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods.
  • Create effective assessment activities, provide SMART learning targets, developmental and timely feedback to motivate and inspire learners to improve.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with students and provide support and encouragement to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Reflect on teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Join a friendly, supportive, hard‑working team who are passionate about developing learners' self‑esteem, abilities and progress.

About You

  • Be qualified to degree level in a related subject.
  • Hold, or be working towards a recognised teaching qualification.
  • Have relevant up-to-date subject knowledge and recent delivery experience in the Further Education or school sector.
  • Be qualified with English and Maths at Level 2 or above.
