About the Role:

Reduced year - 39 weeks per year Fixed Term Contract for 1 Year. Leeds City College are recruiting a Student Support Coordinator to join our Music and Performance Production team based at Quarry Hill. You will be working in a small team to deliver a highly effective pastoral support service to students. The Music & Performance Production team, based at the Quarry Hill Campus, is a multidisciplinary creative-arts department covering music performance and production, acting, musical theatre, dance and backstage technical production. It has industry-standard facilities including recording studios, music-production suites, rehearsal spaces, dance studios and the 180-seat Chroma-Q Theatre. Its strong links with organisations such as Leeds Playhouse and Northern Ballet give students opportunities to gain practical, industry-focused experience across performance and production.

Actual salary for 37 hours per week over 39 weeks per year commences at £27,471 with progression to £29,123 per annum.

What You Will Do:

  • Work with curriculum teams to support student success and retention by providing expertise and support in promoting wellbeing and protecting students from harm.
  • Provide pastoral support to learners ensuring they are able to progress into a positive destination.
  • Act as the department’s emergency responder having undertaken first aid and mental health first aid training, this may also include training to administer medication.
  • Complete the training to become a designated safeguarding officer.
  • Recording and reporting of safeguarding referrals within the school, using appropriate client record and MIS systems, ensuring processes are followed.

About You:

  • Level 2 Safeguarding qualification or willingness to achieve within one year of appointment.
  • Substantial relevant experience of supporting students who have support needs.
  • English and Maths at Level 2.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable groups in an educational setting.
  • Up to date knowledge and experience of a range of safeguarding issues and learning support needs.
