About the Role
The role of the Student Relations Officer is a diverse and interesting one. Working across all seven Schools at the Printworks Campus (including Temple Newsam Home Farm), the postholder will support students to achieve challenging attendance targets, their academic aims and progression goals while engaging in enrichment activities that add to their skills and prepare them for further study, apprenticeships and careers. The role demands a flexible, responsive approach so that the student experience is fresh, challenging and relevant. Typical duties include meeting and greeting students, ensuring our high expectations for behaviour are upheld and acting as a key point of contact for students, parents/carers, visitors and colleagues. Working with students on a 1:1 basis, in small groups and in larger groups to deliver pastoral support, key campaigns and initiatives is another key feature of the role. This is a reduced‑year role, based on 38 weeks, pro‑rata. The pro‑rata salary is £23,289.89 with progression to £23,876.69. Shortlisting will take place the week of 31/07/2026, with interviews and selection activities planned for 21/08/2026.
What You Will Do
- Work across Printworks Campus to ensure students are welcomed into a safe, friendly and supportive environment, collaborating with internal and external colleagues to support everyone to achieve their potential.
- Develop effective professional relationships with students, staff and the wider community to achieve inclusion, participation and development and ensure excellent levels of student satisfaction.
- Tailor support to meet the needs of individual students in academic and pastoral environments and identify opportunities to share best practice across campus.

You will be student‑focused, with a restorative approach and a commitment to providing a positive and supportive environment in which students can learn and develop. You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to analyse and resolve problems quickly and effectively, using reasoning and negotiation skills to defuse challenging situations. You will have the ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a busy, diverse results‑focused team and will enjoy achieving challenging targets and supporting others along the way. In addition, you will contribute to the development and use of a range of monitoring and reporting tasks.
