Leeds City College are recruiting for a Coach to join our team in the School of Public Services. The School of Public Services at Leeds City College supports over 400 students on courses from Level 1 to Level 3, preparing them for careers within the emergency services and armed forces and many more sectors. We don't just teach in classrooms - our students learn resilience, confidence, and discipline through practical experience.
You will be responsible for a caseload of learners who require coaching and support as part of their planned learning programme. Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering group sessions that explore a wide range of Personal, Social, health, and economic topics.
- Supporting learners to track and monitor progress towards achievement using assessment grades.
- Providing support for learners, using online support technology and education platforms.
- Communicating with parents and guardians of learners to support progression and build positive relationships.
- Identifying where learners require an intervention and convening small groups of learners to work on a specific topic related to their course.
- Identifying barriers to learning and implementing a range of strategies to overcome barriers.
- Developing and agreeing individual learning plans, identifying SMART targets and setting aspirational goals for learners, liaising with subject specialists and other academic and support staff.
- Managing learning in a variety of spaces, creating a positive and focused experience.
- Facilitating and participating in a wide range of extracurricular activities with learners.
About You: A passion and ability to inspire and motivate young people to become our future uniformed services and armed forces personnel, and youth workers. Recent teaching or instructing experience that demonstrates active learning and differentiated teaching styles. Ability to be adaptable and flexible towards the requirements of different learner needs.
