About the Role:
Keighley College are seeking a Course Leader of Plumbing Studies to work within the Building Services Study Programmes team. Acting as the first level of leadership above direct delivery, your role is to ensure that curriculum delivery remains consistent, relevant, and perfectly aligned with both departmental expectations and industry standards. You will be responsible for the coherence of the courses under your remit, providing oversight of teaching quality and learner engagement to ensure a high-quality student experience. This role is about taking ownership of your cohorts and driving excellence across the curriculum.
What You Will Do:
- Ensure Plumbing course content remains current and aligned with awarding body and industry requirements, supporting the development of innovative schemes of work and learning resources.
- Meet targets related to student retention, achievement, attendance, and positive progression.
- Monitor the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment (TLA) at the course level, completing course-level self-assessment reports (SAR) and maintaining robust quality improvement plans (QIP).
- Hold the first leadership responsibility for attendance, engagement, and behaviour within your courses, implementing early interventions and addressing concerns promptly.
- Provide day-to-day professional support to teaching staff, promoting consistent standards and encouraging reflective practice across the team.
- Conduct internal verification and moderation to ensure assessment standards meet both college and industry requirements.
About You:
- Must hold a Level 5 Teaching Qualification (e.g., Cert Ed or PGCE) and a relevant vocational qualification or degree in the subject area (or working towards).
- Relevant, up-to-date subject knowledge and substantial experience delivering Level 1, 2, and 3 Plumbing courses within the Further Education sector.
- Skills to manage student progression effectively and experience developing creative learning materials that cater to diverse teaching styles.
- IT literate with a solid understanding of internal verification and moderation processes.
- Committed to professional standards, safeguarding, and promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire and motivate both learners and colleagues.
