We are looking for a Pastry Chef to join our Bakery team! This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with minimum one to two years professional pastry experience who is passionate about the positive impact that baking can have, and who wants to be part of an exciting, growing business. Job Purpose: To deliver fresh and delicious pastries and baked goods to our customers on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for high quality pastries for the café’s and corporate orders from preparation to production of all pastry food items according to specifications.
- Follow and help develop recipes, ensuring optimum product quality standards.
- Ensure allergen and recipe data is up to date.
- Make recommendations for recipes and product improvements (e.g. gluten-free or vegan options).
- Track food supplies for ordering as needed.
- Manage high volumes of production.
- Assisting and ensuring production deadlines are met.
- Ensuring every product leaves the bakery to the highest quality standards.
- Maintaining food hygiene and safety standards as per company policy.
- Further bakery tasks such as completing daily checks of the premises, assisting with the organisation of the bakery itself and logging deliveries.
- Participating in cleaning and sanitation of all kitchen equipment before and after use.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Good understanding of allergens and quality risks.
- Good understanding and some experience of a commercial kitchen.
- Able to both work alone and in a team environment.
- Able to laminate and roll pastries (croissant, pains au chocolat…).
- Prior experience working as a Pastry Chef including proofing and viennoiserie.
- Good English language communication skills.
- Ability to maintain and follow recipes, processes and standards.
- Drive and ambition with a passion for pastry, adaptable with a willingness to learn.
- Flexible availability, working any days across the whole week between Monday – Sunday.
- Full, valid UK working visa.
Desirable:
- Professional baking qualifications are desirable but not essential.
