Reports to: Luminary’s Training Coordinator
Hours: This is a cover role so hours will be offered as and when needed. We are currently looking for cover on Wednesdays between 9am-3:30pm. Additional option of evening work for external classes.
Pay: £13.85 per hour (London Living Wage)
Contract: Zero hours contract
THE ROLE
To assist with the running of Luminary’s Employability and Independence Training Programme for women with experience of multiple disadvantages including Gender Based Violence. To assist Luminary’s Training Team with the smooth running of the training day including supporting trainees with both baking and learning elements of the curriculum. To support hosting the Luminary training space, making sure it is a welcoming environment for trainees including supporting the set up, pack down & cleanliness of the space.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assisting Luminary’s Training Team with tasks associated with the daily running of the training programme including but not limited to:
- Setting up the classroom; preparing equipment and resources, setting out the breakfast, hanging the washing, tidying and cleaning the training space, taking part in the team briefing
- Supporting trainees in the classroom including reading their recipe, reminding them of the learning in the baking demonstration, supporting with frustrations when something goes wrong, completing the attendance log and supporting trainee travel expenses.
- Preparing the lunch for the trainees, setting up the lunch table, serving the food, and tidying away afterward.
- After training, supporting with preparing the classroom for the following day including putting ingredients away, washing up, cleaning workstations and attending team debrief.
Requirements
- Good understanding of baking
- Comfortable working in a fast paced environment with the ability to pick up new tasks quickly
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Observant and able to use initiative to manage problems
- Passion for working with women who have experience multiple disadvantage
- Understanding of trauma and how this can impact learning and relationships
- Strong desire to support women to grow and develop professionally
- Compassionate, personable & patient with the ability to manage conflict well
- Positive energy and can do attitude
- Reliable and able to accept work at short notice
- Graduated Luminary’s Employability and Independence Programme and completed Phase 3 (mentoring).
It is a requirement of this job role that the applicant is female under the Equality Act 2010.

- Experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma and/or Violence Against Women or Girls (VAWG)
- Experience working with SEND or individuals not in mainstream education
- Experience working in adult training service
