Who we are
We are Luminary Women – a women-led charity offering a bold, innovative response to the needs of women in London who face multiple disadvantage, including gender-based violence. Based in Camden, London, Luminary Women has been working to empower women to reach their potential since 2013 through training and support programmes. We use baking as a tool to guide women who have experienced multiple disadvantage on a journey towards employability and independence.

The Role and its impact
This is an exciting, newly created role that will be instrumental in raising awareness of Luminary Women and supporting the charity's next phase of growth. We are looking for a creative and driven individual whose focus will be on development of our digital communications, primarily across Instagram, LinkedIn and our website.

This role is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of a small but established charity dedicated to supporting women to thrive. The selected candidate will bring fresh thinking and a commitment to contributing to our mission.
Overview of the role
- Increase awareness of Luminary Women and its mission across social media platforms and our website.
- Manage and develop Luminary Women’s social media channels, alongside developing and maintaining our website content in line with our communications strategy (including post creation, case studies, blog and newsletter writing and basic asset design).
- Ensure consistent messaging across all channels, maintaining a strong and cohesive Luminary Women brand in line with our brand guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with the wider team to stay informed on programmes and activities, contributing to the growth of our referral programme.
- Work closely with the Head of Fundraising to promote fundraising campaigns and activities, to increase income.
- Support the creation of engaging visual content by capturing mobile photography and video across training sessions, events and ad hoc activities (e.g. workshops).
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Due to the role responsibilities, it is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the post holder is female, permitted under Schedule 9, part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
Your experience and skills
- Degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related field, or equivalent relevant experience (work experience or placements).
- An interest in the charity sector and in advancing opportunities for women.
- To be sensitive around women's data, stories and identities.
- To recognise the sensitive nature of the subject matter and to write in a way that empowers survivors.
- Awareness of VAWG (violence against women and girls) and a passion for the cause and women's empowerment.
- Excellent verbal and written skills with an ability to follow briefs, communicate with different audiences and attention to detail.
- Experience of social media channels and basic use of Canva.
- Experience using WordPress or a similar website builder tool is preferable.
- Be a self-starter, innovative and tenacious, with a flexible approach.
- A team-player with strong people and communication skills.
- Great organisational and time-management skills.

- Salary: £30,784 per annum pro rata (actual pro rata salary is £12,313.60 per annum)
- Contract: Initial 6-month contract with the view to extend
- Hours: Part-time, 2 days (16 hours) per week
