Why this role?
Lumina Learning is investing in its mobile products and this role is at the centre of it. You’ll lead the redevelopment of our existing iOS and Android apps into a single React Native codebase, then own the ongoing evolution of our mobile applications used by a global audience of practitioners, partners, and clients. You’ll be the first dedicated Mobile Developer in the team with real influence over technical direction and a clear path to senior or leadership responsibility as the mobile capability grows.
What you’ll be working on:
- Immediate Focus: Rebuilding our existing native iOS and Android app into React Native (Expo / Node.js).
- Ongoing: Designing, building, and improving mobile applications aligned to product strategy.
You’ll own:
- Redevelop and maintain Lumina Learning's mobile apps using React Native.
- Own the full mobile codebase across iOS and Android.
- Build new features and applications from product requirements.
- Ensure apps are stable, scalable, and production-ready.
- Act as the go-to expert for mobile development across the team.
- Troubleshoot and resolve live production issues.
- Break product requirements into technical solutions and estimates.
- Apply strong engineering practices (version control, testing, documentation).
- Work closely with UX, Product, and Engineering to deliver great user experiences.
- Help shape the future mobile function as the team grows.

Essential:
- Proven experience delivering mobile apps into production.
- Strong hands-on experience with React Native (iOS & Android).
- Solid JavaScript knowledge and modern development practices.
- Experience using source control (e.g. Bitbucket).
- Understanding of APIs, data storage, and backend integration.
- Ability to explain technical decisions clearly.
- Experience estimating and planning development work.
Nice To Have:
- Objective-C (iOS) and/or Java (Android).
- TypeScript, REST APIs, TDD, build automation.
- Web development experience alongside mobile.
