Our client is a reputable and well-established legal firm specialising in private client services. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Will Writer to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work with clients in crafting their essential legal documents, ensuring their wishes are accurately documented and legally sound.

As a Will Writer, you will be responsible for assisting clients in the creation of straightforward Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and other related legal documents. Your primary duties will include:

  • Client Consultations: Conduct client meetings at the office by prior appointment to gather instructions for straightforward Wills. Listen attentively to clients' needs and preferences to ensure their wishes are accurately documented.
  • Document Preparation: Efficiently prepare, explain, and draft Will documents based on the client's instructions. Submit draft documents for client review and approval promptly, aiming for same-day or within 24-hour turnaround.
  • Financial Transactions: Present the firm's account to clients promptly, ensuring immediate settlement. Handle financial transactions with the utmost professionalism and accuracy.
  • Referral to Senior Members: Recognise and refer complex cases involving trusts, Inheritance Tax (IHT) advice, and other intricate matters to senior members of the Private Client team. Collaborate with senior colleagues to ensure clients receive comprehensive and specialised advice when necessary.
  • Lasting Powers of Attorney: Provide guidance and advice to clients on Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA). Assist clients in the preparation, execution, and registration of LPAs in compliance with legal requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Will Writer or in a related role within the legal industry for at least 2 years.
  • Strong understanding of Will drafting, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and related legal documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Proficient in legal software and document management systems.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.
  • Legal qualification or certification preferred but not required.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills.
