Responsibilities / Position overview

Value, Access & Outcomes (VAO) practice.

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for defining and executing the commercial strategy across our Market Access, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR), Patient-Centered Outcomes (PCO), and Real-World Evidence (RWE) businesses.

Working closely with senior leaders across the practice, you'll help strengthen our commercial approach, improve business development effectiveness, enable sustainable growth, and ensure we continue delivering exceptional value to clients across the globe.

As Commercial Strategy Lead, you'll work at the intersection of strategy, commercial operations and business development. You'll:

  • Develop and deliver the commercial strategy for the VAO practice, identifying opportunities for sustainable growth across existing and emerging markets.
  • Partner with senior business leaders to shape service offerings, value propositions and go-to-market strategies.
  • Lead the evolution of our commercial model, creating greater consistency and collaboration across multiple service lines while recognising the unique needs of each business.
  • Build and embed best practice sales enablement, including frameworks, tools, processes and performance measures that improve commercial effectiveness.
  • Drive account planning, opportunity management and pipeline visibility, helping teams focus on the highest-value growth opportunities.
  • Support sales teams and senior client leaders to strengthen client relationships, improve proposal quality and increase conversion of strategic opportunities.
  • Use commercial data and market insight to inform strategic decisions, optimise performance and identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with marketing colleagues to align commercial and marketing activity, supporting brand awareness, lead generation and client engagement.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing business development team, creating a collaborative culture focused on excellence, innovation and continuous learning.

Qualifications

We're looking for a commercially minded leader with the ability to influence across a complex, global organisation. You'll bring:

  • Significant experience (at least 15+ years) leading commercial strategy, business development, sales operations or revenue growth within consulting, professional services or life sciences, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity
  • A strong track record of developing and executing successful commercial growth strategies globally, and across multiple service lines or business units.
  • Experience building sales enablement capabilities, commercial processes and performance frameworks that drive measurable results.
  • Strong understanding of business development, account management, forecasting, CRM systems and pipeline management.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear commercial decisions.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills and experience partnering with senior leaders across functions and geographies.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing commercial or business development teams.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge thinking and inspire change.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; an MBA or postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.
