About the Role: Luma Education Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of one of our clients, a small but rapidly expanding SEN school in Bourne, who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their growing team. The school supports pupils aged 7–18, with the majority of learners working at a primary curriculum level. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs in a structured, nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering a primary-level curriculum
  • Support children with a range of Special Educational Needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and associated learning needs
  • Help create a safe, calm, and positive learning environment
  • Implement behaviour support strategies in line with school policies
  • Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and social development
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Support pupils with personal, emotional, or behavioural needs where required
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider school staff

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN or school setting
  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable Experience:

  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Support Worker
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, or complex needs
  • Team Teach or other behaviour support training (desirable but not essential)
