Luma Education Recruitment is working with a specialist provision to recruit a resilient and committed SEMH Behaviour Mentor to support pupils aged 10–18 with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This is a permanent, term‑time only position, ideal for someone confident managing behaviour, building strong relationships, and supporting young people who may have experienced significant barriers to mainstream education.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring for pupils with SEMH needs
- Support pupils in managing behaviour, emotions, and engagement in learning
- De‑escalate challenging situations using appropriate behaviour strategies
- Work closely with teaching staff to implement individual support plans
- Act as a positive role model, promoting structure, consistency, and trust
- Support reintegration into learning and improve attendance and engagement
Requirements
- Experience working with young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or in alternative provision
- Confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
- Strong relationship‑building skills and emotional resilience
- Background in youth work, mentoring, coaching, or similar desirable
- TeamTeach, PRICE, or de‑escalation training (desirable but not essential)
- Enhanced DBS (on Update Service) required prior to starting
