Luma Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and experienced Secondary Science Teacher to join a specialist SEN provision in Nottinghamshire. This is a permanent opportunity within a growing school supporting pupils with a range of additional needs in a highly supportive and well‑resourced environment. You will be responsible for delivering engaging GCSE Science lessons to small class groups, ensuring teaching is highly differentiated to meet a wide range of SEMH and additional learning needs. This role is well suited to a teacher who is looking to work in a setting where consistency, positive relationships, and creativity are central to learning and pupil development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high‑quality GCSE Science lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD and other additional needs
- Maintain a calm, structured, and supportive classroom environment
- Work closely with teaching assistants to support engagement and progress
- Assess, track and report on pupil progress in line with school requirements
- Contribute to wider school activities including enrichment, interventions and educational visits
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Strong experience teaching Secondary Science (GCSE experience essential)
- Experience working with SEMH and/or SEND learners
- Effective behaviour management strategies and a resilient approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils
- Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willingness to obtain prior to start)
