Luma Education Recruitment is currently recruiting Primary Teaching Assistants for a number of schools across Leicester and Leicestershire, with opportunities starting from September 2026. Whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for your next role, or you're looking to build more experience working in primary education, we have a range of opportunities available.
Our partner schools are looking for reliable, caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants who can support pupils in the classroom and make a positive difference to their learning and development. There are opportunities for teachers and support staff looking for short-term flexibility, as well as those wanting longer-term and ongoing work.
About the Role
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you may be supporting pupils with:
- Classroom learning and activities
- Literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum work
- Individual and small-group interventions
- Behaviour and emotional regulation
- Social and communication development
- Additional learning needs
- General classroom routines and organisation
You'll work closely with teachers and other support staff to help create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from Teaching Assistants who have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people
- Experience within a school, nursery, education or care setting is desirable
- A patient, supportive and positive approach
- Good communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A genuine interest in supporting children's learning and development
- Flexibility to work across different school environments
Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential, depending on the role and your previous experience. An Enhanced DBS will be required prior to starting. An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service is preferred.
