About Luma AI
Luma's mission is to build multimodal AI to expand human imagination and capabilities. We believe that multimodality is critical for intelligence. To go beyond language models and build more aware, capable and useful systems, the next step function change will come from vision. So we are working on training and scaling up multimodal foundation models for systems that can see and understand, show and explain, and eventually interact with our world to effect change.
Where You Come In
We are looking for a pragmatic and product-minded Frontend Engineer to join our team in London. This is a rare opportunity to build the "nervous system" of our research and engineering operations. You will create the internal dashboards, visualization tools, and applications that allow our researchers to test, evaluate, and iterate on our models, directly accelerating our ability to ship frontier AI. This is a high-impact, high-velocity role for an engineer who loves building beautiful, functional UIs and wants to work at the absolute edge of creative AI.
What You'll Do
- Build the Internal Platform: Architect and maintain internal web applications and dashboards using React, Next.js, and Tailwind that visualize complex model data.
- Accelerate Research: Collaborate directly with research and engineering teams to understand their workflows and ship solutions that unblock their progress.
- Own the User Experience: Take ownership of the entire development lifecycle, from translating vague researcher needs into concrete UI/UX designs to shipping polished, intuitive tools.
- Full Stack Contribution: While primarily frontend focused, you will occasionally contribute to the Python/FastAPI backends that power our internal services.
- Iterate at Speed: Operate with short feedback loops, taking loose requirements from a researcher and turning them into working tools in days, not weeks.
Who You Are
You have 1–5 years of frontend engineering experience with a solid grasp of React fundamentals. You are comfortable building UIs from scratch without hand-holding and have examples of shipping production web applications (side projects or professional). You are craft-oriented, write clean, readable code, and care about the details—you believe internal tools should feel as polished as consumer products. You are comfortable with ambiguity and can take a vague problem ("we need a way to look at these video outputs") and turn it into a functional tool. You are a clear communicator who works well asynchronously and can bridge the gap between complex technical requirements and user interface design.
What Sets You Apart (Bonus Points)
- Some backend experience (Python, FastAPI, MongoDB, PostgreSQL).
- Familiarity with AI coding tools like Cursor or Claude Code to speed up your workflow.
- Experience with component libraries like shadcn/ui or Tailwind UI.
