Client & Business Associate

Client & Business Associate

Full-Time On-site
Lulworth Investment Partners

Working pattern: Hybrid (office and remote working)

Employment type: Full-time

This is a generalist role: you will be a key member of our small, but growing team, working as a key point of contact with clients, whilst also providing operational support and helping with business projects. As part of this role, you will work closely with and learn from the founder and Executive Management, as well as gaining some investment experience.

About Lulworth Investment Partners

Lulworth Investment Partners is a new and ambitious investment management firm, founded and backed by experienced industry professionals. We provide bespoke investment management to High Net Worth individuals, families, charities and trusts.

Our investment approach is focused on protecting and growing the real value of our clients' wealth over the long term, regardless of wider market direction. We believe in independent thinking and an unconstrained approach to portfolio construction, rather than simply following markets or peer-group benchmarks.

We are now entering an important stage in the firm’s development and are building the team and infrastructure to support our growth and our ambition to create a leading investment management firm.

Joining Lulworth Investment Partners now is an opportunity to become part of the business at a genuinely formative stage. In a small team, everyone needs to help beyond their own job description. We are ambitious about what we want to build, and we work together to get things done. We value people who take responsibility, bring new ideas and step in where they can make a useful contribution.

The opportunity

We are looking for a bright, adaptable, and highly organised person to join Lulworth as an Associate.

Rather than looking for someone to perform a narrowly defined set of tasks, we want someone who can grow with Lulworth and contribute across different parts of the business as we develop.

You will become a key point of contact for our High Net Worth clients, as well as taking the lead on our operational infrastructure that sits behind these client relationships. The role spans relationship management, operations, investment support and making contributions to wider business projects. It would suit someone who enjoys variety, likes learning new things and takes pride in getting things done properly.

When you meet an unfamiliar problem, we want you to investigate it, use your judgement and work out a sensible solution. You do not need to arrive as an expert in every part of the role. Curiosity, initiative, a willingness to take responsibility and the ability to learn quickly matter more.

As a new firm, we can embrace technology and AI implementation without being held back by legacy systems and processes. We want someone who is a fast learner and interested in using technology intelligently to improve efficiency and the experience we provide to our clients.

As the business grows, we expect the role to grow with it. For the right person, this is an opportunity to gain broad exposure to how an investment management business works, work closely with senior management, and play a key part in shaping the firm’s culture.

Key responsibilities

Client operations and servicing

Be a go-to point of contact for our clients.

Support Investment Directors with the day-to-day administration of client relationships.

Prepare information ahead of client and prospective client meetings and follow up agreed actions.

Support the preparation and checking of quarterly client valuations and other periodic reporting.

Coordinate the opening of new client accounts, working with clients, Investment Directors and external service providers.

Monitor account openings, transfers and other client instructions through to completion.

Respond to routine client enquiries by email and telephone in a clear, prompt and professional manner.

Liaise with the operational team and other third parties to resolve client and account-related matters.

Investment support

  • Prepare and aggregate research and due diligence materials for review by the investment team.
  • Help maintain investment research, monitoring records and supporting information.
  • Assist with the preparation of Investment Committee papers and supporting materials.

Business and operational support

  • Support projects relating to the continued development and growth of Lulworth.
  • Make good use of technology and new tools to improve efficiency and the experience we provide to clients.
  • Take ownership of agreed tasks and projects, keeping colleagues informed of progress and raising problems promptly.
  • Get involved in other projects and activities across the business as priorities develop.

What we are looking for

Above all, we are looking for someone with the aptitude and attitude to thrive in a small, ambitious and growing business.

  • Bright, curious and keen to learn.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Has deep integrity, given the confidential nature of our client base.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable managing several different priorities at the same time.
  • Someone who takes ownership of a task and sees it through to completion.
  • Able to investigate unfamiliar subjects, think independently and work out sensible next steps.
  • A clear and confident communicator, both in writing and in person.
  • Numerically confident and comfortable working with financial information.
  • Professional and comfortable communicating with clients and external providers in person, over the telephone and by email.
  • IT proficient and a fast learner on new systems, whilst being interested in how technology can improve efficiency and the client experience.
  • Open to new ways of working and willing to embrace new tools as the business develops.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a business where priorities and responsibilities will evolve.
  • Collaborative, dependable and willing to help others.
  • Someone who enjoys variety and is willing to get involved wherever they can add value, rather than being constrained by a narrow job description.

Experience

We are deliberately open-minded about background and experience. Whilst we anticipate the candidate is likely to have gained some relevant professional experience, this is not a prerequisite.

You do not need to have done every part of the role before. We are more interested in finding someone possessing the right attitude, interpersonal skills and attention to detail, as well as the potential to take on increasing responsibility.

  • Join at a formative point in Lulworth's development, as we build our team following FCA authorisation.
  • Help us build and shape an ambitious investment management business, rather than joining an established firm where the hierarchy, structures and ways of working are already fixed.
  • Gain broad exposure across client service, investment operations and business management.
  • Work closely with experienced industry professionals and take on meaningful responsibility from an early stage.
  • Work in a modern, technology-enabled environment without the constraints of legacy systems.
  • Competitive benefits package including private medical insurance, health and wellbeing support such as access to virtual and in-person private GPs.
  • 25 days of annual leave per year plus bank holidays, with one additional day for each year of service up to a maximum of 30 days of annual leave.
