About This Team

The Senior Manager Buying is responsible for the structure, development and performance of their team across all product classes, key items and channels. They continuously coach and develop team members to be all‑round thinkers, draw critical business conclusions, and collaborate with cross‑functional partners throughout the product lifecycle. They also manage in‑season execution/management of their class through weekly business analyses, open‑to‑buy decisions and product exits. They create divisional regional merchandising strategies with a cohesive omni‑channel approach and gather regional cross‑functional inputs to educate and influence around them. They lead their team in collating and presenting compelling regional insights (guest, products, market trends).

A Day In The Life

  • Get merchandising strategies from Global merchandising
  • Understand EMEA growth strategies and region specifics from the Buying director
  • OTB management with Planning counterpart
  • Work closely with Planning partners to achieve plans through trade actions
  • Partner with B&C to increase and drive awareness through assortment
  • Build a growth strategy for Men’s and Accessories similar to Women’s
  • Improve product productivity and lifecycle management
  • Drive regional campaigns strategies
  • Long Range Planning: action a detailed strategic plan for the Men’s and Accessories divisions to drive growth and guest acquisition/retention
  • Create optimal class‑level product assortments reflecting brand, regional relevance, profitability and sales
  • Lead the team in preparing and presenting for Buy Reviews (strategies, attributing, investments, flow, etc.)
  • Manage regional pricing product architecture

Qualifications

  • Acute eye for product and colour trends
  • Aware of macro lifestyle and fashion trends and how this relates to the active and wellness industry
  • Strong knowledge of regional guest base to curate assortments for the region
  • Ability to enrol, lead and influence key cross‑functional partners
  • Minimum eight years of experience, combination of people management and industry experience in vertical retail and omni‑channel experience
  • Experience and proven ability in coaching, mentoring and leading a team of 3–4 direct reports
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret multiple data points across numerous channels and market segments
  • Mastery of retail mathematics, including markup, margin, planning, open-to-buy and inventory productivity; ability to balance analytical and creative tasks
  • Strong understanding of season‑to‑season business performance and ability to drive business based on key financial indicators
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal; ability to present to Senior leadership
  • Ability to work independently to make sound business decisions, multitask, pivot, prioritize competing tasks and operate in a fast‑paced environment
  • Willingness to travel (domestic and international) and work on the retail floor
