As a Trainee Machinist, you’ll join a supportive Machine Shop team working on aircraft landing gear components in a highly regulated environment. This role offers structured training, practical experience, and exposure to precision machining, giving you the foundations to grow within the aerospace MRO industry.

Tasks

  • The Trainee Machinist will support the overhaul and maintenance of aircraft landing gear components while developing machining skills under supervision.
  • You will assist with machine setup, operation, and monitoring, read technical drawings, take precise measurements, and support routine machine maintenance.
  • Working closely with experienced machinists, engineers, and quality teams, you will contribute to safe, accurate, and efficient machining activities while maintaining high aerospace and health & safety standards.

Requirements

  • GCSE level education or equivalent
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Engineering qualification desirable
  • Basic knowledge or experience in a machine shop or engineering environment
  • Awareness and understanding of PPE and safe working practices
  • Exposure to CNC or manual machine tools advantageous
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical skills
  • Good planning, organisational, and communication skills
  • PC literate with ability to complete basic digital tasks
  • Team-oriented with a positive and proactive attitude
