We are seeking a skilled Machine Borer to join our team. The ideal candidate should have experience operating all types of boring machines, particularly horizontal boring machines and jig borers. This is a shift-based role (Monday-Friday).
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate a range of horizontal and vertical boring machines to achieve high-precision tolerances.
- Manufacture components in line with technical specifications, quality standards, and production schedules.
- Conduct in-process inspection and measurement using appropriate tools, including working confidently with imperial units.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records, including completion of Practical Experience Record (PER) documentation where required.
- Carry out routine machine maintenance and ensure equipment is kept in safe, clean, and operational condition.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency.
- Provide training and guidance to colleagues where appropriate, based on experience and qualifications.
- Use computer systems for documentation, reporting, and basic data management (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, databases).
Qualifications:
- Trained in machine shop technology and machining practices.
- Extensive experience operating horizontal boring machines and working knowledge of jig borers.
- Knowledge of CNC boring is preferable.
- Aerospace industry experience is preferred but not essential.
- Strong understanding of precision machining and quality control.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
