We are seeking a skilled Machine Borer to join our team. The ideal candidate should have experience operating all types of boring machines, particularly horizontal boring machines and jig borers. This is a shift-based role (Monday-Friday).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate a range of horizontal and vertical boring machines to achieve high-precision tolerances.
  • Manufacture components in line with technical specifications, quality standards, and production schedules.
  • Conduct in-process inspection and measurement using appropriate tools, including working confidently with imperial units.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records, including completion of Practical Experience Record (PER) documentation where required.
  • Carry out routine machine maintenance and ensure equipment is kept in safe, clean, and operational condition.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Provide training and guidance to colleagues where appropriate, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Use computer systems for documentation, reporting, and basic data management (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, databases).

Qualifications:

  • Trained in machine shop technology and machining practices.
  • Extensive experience operating horizontal boring machines and working knowledge of jig borers.
  • Knowledge of CNC boring is preferable.
  • Aerospace industry experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of precision machining and quality control.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
