The Machine Borer will be responsible for operating and maintaining boring machines to produce precision aircraft components within specified limits. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of machining processes, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Requirements
- To operate all types of boring machines to fine limits.
- To be able to read and understand technical drawings.
- To have an understanding of types of horizontal boring practices.
- To be able to measure in imperial.
- To work in accordance with company procedures - Operations (or Organisational) Handbook / Operations & Health Manual, Component Maintenance Manual and Standard Operating Procedures Manual.
- You will be required to maintain Practical Experience Record (PER) book.
- You may be required to train personnel with a specified area subject to your qualifications and experience.
Education and Experience
- Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent.
- Machining Background essential.
- Experience working Knowledge of horizontal boring machines (Desirable).
- Basic IT knowledge.
- Trained in Machine Shop technology and working practices.
- Aerospace background desirable but not essential.
- Some Knowledge of CNC Machining desirable but not essential.
Working Conditions
- Shift based role Monday to Friday - including possible overtime at weekends.
- Must be reliably able to commute to our facility in Hayes, West London.
- Training and use of overhead cranes.
- Understanding of manual handling as this position involves lifting heavy aircraft components and the use of hand tools and power tools.
- Use of ovens and complex machinery.
- Ability to maintain a clean and tidy working area to a 5s standard.
Additional Requirements
- Candidate must have the right to live and work in the UK unrestricted.
- Mandatory Training will be required.
- Within our company, this role requires the attainment of the relevant authorisation stamps that grant sign-off authority for landing gear components and associated MRO processes. These stamps are a core requirement of the position and essential for career progression. Employees are expected to retain and uphold these authorisations as part of their permanent duties.
