Job Purpose To coordinate and control the hire, off-hire and movement of construction plant, tools and equipment, ensuring sites have the right equipment when required while maintaining effective control of costs, utilisation and records. The company is introducing inspHire as its plant and hire management system. Experience of inspHire or a similar system is highly desirable. We are particularly interested in someone who can use previous systems experience to help lead its implementation, establish effective processes and support successful adoption within the Plant Department. Key Responsibilities Liaise with site and project teams to identify plant and equipment requirements Source equipment from the company fleet where available and arrange external hire when required. Coordinate deliveries, transfers, collections, hires and off-hires. Maintain accurate plant locations, hire periods, movements and supplier information within the management system. Monitor plant utilisation and promptly off-hire equipment that is no longer required to avoid unnecessary costs. Obtain quotations, negotiate competitive hire rates and maintain effective supplier relationships. Check hire charges and assist with resolving invoice or hire-record discrepancies. Coordinate plant breakdowns, repairs, servicing, replacements and exchanges with workshops and suppliers. Support forward planning of plant requirements and identify opportunities to improve utilisation and reduce external hire costs.
