We are currently recruiting a suitably qualified, competent and experienced General Foreman to work across various sectors of Civil Engineering and in particular, exciting opportunities in the Water Sector .

With contract works throughout Lancashire & Cumbria this presents an opportunity to join one of the UKs leading multi discipline Civil Engineering and Building Contractors in our Northern England division.

Job Purpose To supervise and coordinate site operations on civil engineering projects, ensuring that work is delivered safely, to specification, on time, and within budget.

Responsible for managing operatives and subcontractors, maintaining quality standards, and supporting site management with project delivery.

Acts as the key point of contact between the workforce and the Site Manager.

K e y R e spon s ib i l i ti e s a n d A ccount a b il i ti e s Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, company procedures, and method statements Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks, and maintain site safety culture.

Assist in procurement and coordination of materials, plant, and equipment.

Ensure quality control of works, meeting technical specifications and standards.

Support setting out and measurement tasks under guidance of engineers.

Maintain accurate site records, including diaries, checklists, and H&S documentation.

Mentor and develop operatives, skilled workers, and apprentices.

Liaise with client representatives, inspectors, and utility providers as required.

Health and Safety Responsibilities Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies.

Promote a culture of health, safety and wellbeing within the team.

Ensure compliance with RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements).

Monitor use of PPE and equipment.

Carry out site safety checks and inspections.

Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately Person Specification Qualifications CSCS card (Supervisory level) SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) or equivalent First Aid at Work Experience Significant experience in civil engineering works as a Ganger/Foreman Proven supervisory experience managing teams of operatives and subcontractors Exposure to drainage, utilities, roadworks, or general infrastructure projects Knowledge/Skills Strong understanding of civil engineering construction processes Knowledge of H&S regulations and site procedures Effective leadership and communication skills Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and programmes Record keeping and basic IT skills (email, MS Office, site systems). xohmjla
