We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Sales Assistant to join our friendly team at Lucy Pittaway in Keswick. This is a customer‑focused, commission‑based sales role, ideal for someone with a passion for sales and excellent customer service skills. Commission is earned on all artwork sales and is paid on top of the hourly rate, increasing overall earnings.

The Role

You will play a key part in delivering an exceptional in-store experience for our customers. While the role is primarily customer‑facing, it also includes a variety of behind‑the‑scenes responsibilities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with customers and confidently selling art and merchandise in the gallery
  • Processing sales and handling payments using the till/EPOS system
  • Managing email and telephone sales enquiries
  • Organising, handling and processing artwork and stock
  • Providing outstanding customer service face‑to‑face, by phone and via email
  • Occasionally supporting local events and exhibitions

About You

We are looking for someone who is proactive, reliable, and thrives in a busy retail environment. You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience in retail or sales (essential)
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Confidence handling payments and managing a till
  • Good attention to detail and a strong level of numeracy
  • The ability to handle artwork and stock, including items that may be large or heavy
  • A positive, ‘can‑do’ attitude and willingness to take on a variety of tasks
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with EPOS systems (desirable but not essential)

16–24 hours per week worked on a 7‑day rota, including weekdays and weekends. Flexibility is essential.

What We Offer
