Job Purpose
To ensure manufacturing processes can meet the cost and quality specifications required. To lead manufacturing projects introducing cost savings, quality improvements, lead-time improvements or new production competencies. Design production processes to create flow.

Job Dimensions
- Geographic scope – Sowerby Bridge production and assembly areas
- Direct Interface with all other members of the LEEVI Operations Management Team
- Day to day engagement with Commercial, Design, Quality & HR
- Factory visit management as required
Key Accountabilities
- Project manage major efficiency projects.
- Provide technical support to all LEEVI manufacturing and assembly processes including identifying new tool and jig requirements
- Design Manufacturing and Assembly cells and work with the production team for a successful implementation.
- Discover, investigate, recommend and implement new manufacturing processes and technologies.
- Raise capital expenditure proposals for required plant and equipment to improve quality and reduce cost.
- Take lead on the introduction of new products into LEEVI and ensure they are ready for manufacture
- Cost new / existing products for material usage and standard labour.
- Create, update / maintain build procedures for all LEEVI products.
- Be responsible for management, repair and modification all jigs, fixtures, press tools and mould tools and update the tool database
- Identify cost saving opportunities.
- Create Safe Working Procedures and Risk assessments for new processes and equipment.
- Raise ECR’s and Concessions as required.
- Action ECN\’s as required in terms of manufacturing engineering responsibilities, build procedures or tooling mods.
- Sell and removal surplus plant and equipment.
- Provide practical training in assembly procedures.
Secondary Activities / Tasks
- To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required / instructed in order to maintain and/or improve the efficiency, quality and service provided by the Operations Department.
- Health & Safety – adherence to all Company Health & Safety Policies, Procedures and Safe Working Practices.
- To undertake business travel within the UK and overseas when required.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience
Essential
- Experienced in people management and team leadership
- Significant engineering and production experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and MRP systems.
- Proven record of project management
- Experience of product costing and cost saving
- Demonstrable knowledge of legislative, health and safety and compliance issues
Desirable
- Lean Co-ordinator
- Trained risk assessor
- In depth understanding of plastic moulding processes
Behavioural Competencies
- Good People Management skills
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills Man Management skills
- Good facilitator or team member as required
Other Requirements
- HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
