Job Purpose: To ensure manufacturing processes can meet the cost and quality specifications required. To lead manufacturing projects introducing cost savings, quality improvements, lead-time improvements or new production competencies Design production processes to create flow. Job Dimensions: β€’ Geographic scope – Sowerby Bridge production and assembly areas β€’ Direct Interface with all other members of the LEEVI Operations Management Team β€’ Day to day engagement with Commercial, Design, Quality & HR β€’ Factory visit management as required Key Accountabilities: β€’ Project manage major efficiency projects. β€’ Provide technical support to all LEEVI manufacturing and assembly processes including identifying new tool and jig requirements β€’ Design Manufacturing and Assembly cells and work with the production team for a successful implementation. β€’ Discover, investigate, recommend and implement new manufacturing processes and technologies. β€’ Raise capital expenditure proposals for required plant and equipment to improve quality and reduce cost. β€’ Take lead on the introduction of new products into LEEVI and ensure they are ready for manufacture β€’ Cost new / existing products for material usage and standard labour. β€’ Create, update / maintain build procedures for all LEEVI products, β€’ Be responsible for management, repair and modification all jigs, fixtures, press tools and mould tools and update the tool database β€’ Identify cost saving opportunities. β€’ Create Safe Working Procedures and Risk assessments for new processes and equipment. β€’ Raise ECR’s and Concessions as required. β€’ Action ECN\’s as required in terms of manufacturing engineering responsibilities, build procedures or tooling mods. β€’ Sell and removal surplus plant and equipment. β€’ Provide practical training in assembly procedures. Secondary Activities / Tasks β€’ To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required / instructed in order to maintain and / or improve the efficiency, quality and service provided by the Operations Department. β€’ Health & Safety – adherence to all Company Health & Safety Policies, Procedures and Safe Working Practices. β€’ To undertake business travel within the UK and overseas when required. Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience Functional Competencies Essential: β€’ Experienced in people management and team leadership β€’ Significant engineering and production experience β€’ Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and MRP systems. β€’ Proven record of project management β€’ Experience of product costing and cost saving β€’ Demonstrable knowledge of legislative, health and safety and compliance issues Desirable: β€’ Lean Co-ordinator β€’ Trained risk assessor β€’ In depth understanding of plastic moulding processes Behavioural competencies β€’ Good People Management skills β€’ Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills Man Management skills β€’ Good facilitator or team member as required Other Requirements β€’ HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
