We are seeking an enthusiastic Contracts Engineer to join our close-knit Team at Lucy Electric. This is a great opportunity for a motivated self-starter to learn all about Lucy Products and how they are used in the electricity industry. Your role will be to agree with customers the technical specification required to fulfil their requirements and ensure the products or services delivered against contract meet the customer’s technical specification.

Lucy Electric is an international leader in intelligent secondary power distribution products and solutions, with features such as remote operation and monitoring. Linking energy generation to consumption, the business specialises in high-performance medium and low-voltage switchgear for utility, industrial and commercial applications.

You will work as part of a wider technical support team working closely with other contract engineers, technical support engineers, contract design engineers and technical authors. You will be providing support to our sales, customer service and energy service departments as well as external customers both in the UK and overseas. Tasks will be varied and will consist of reviewing specifications, providing advice, collating documents, BOM creation and CAD work and getting stuck in with learning everything about our products so the best technical assistance can be provided.

This role will predominantly be based in Thame and travel within the UK may be required. This role reports to the Contract Engineering Team Manager.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Carry out Level 2 technical review on the Lucy product configurator to allow tendering to issue a quotation.
  • On receiving an order into the company, review to ensure the technical details match the quotation. Either refer back to tendering or process to order stage as appropriate.
  • Make a list of any missing technical details and request from the customer.
  • Check Bill of Materials issued by drawing office matches the customer’s requirements.
  • When required assist in the creation of BOM’s and GA drawings using NX CAD and Teamcenter.
  • Review and agree any changes to specification required by the customer during the course of the contract. Ensure that the configurator solution and BOM are updated to reflect these changes.
  • Carry out postproduction audit on finished goods.
  • Arrange and participate in customer Factory Acceptance Testing.
  • Assist in providing missing / updated technical information back into the configurator team.

Secondary Activities / Tasks:

  • To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required / instructed in order to maintain and / or improve the efficiency, quality and service of the department.
  • To undertake business travel within the UK as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Sound background in Electrical or Mechanical engineering.
  • HNC / HND minimum in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Good communication skills in a one to one or group environment.
  • PC literate in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Electrical Switchgear.
