Overview

Internal Job Title: Lead Business Development Manager. Role at Lucy Electric EV Infrastructure. Location: Home/Field Based. Job Reference No: 4098.

Job purpose

The Lead Business Development Manager will focus on leading the Business Development function for EV, drive the EV Business Development & Sales strategy and input to the broader business strategy. The role will develop the function for EV, providing direction and challenge; and will coach, mentor and develop the Business Development team. Overall, the lead role in driving the EV Business Development function across all areas to meet and exceed our short, medium and long-term sales and profitability expectations.

Job context

This is a key role within Lucy Electric in a significant growth area where the focus will be to manage all aspects of our sales and development activities in collaboration with the wider EV team.

Our core product offering includes design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, maintenance of feeder Pillars and Packaged Substations in both Private and Public sector.

Job dimensions

  • The role will be field/home based with regular visits to Lucy Electric offices and customers within the UK and Ireland. Travel to overseas locations will occasionally be required.
  • The home base must be located on the UK/Ireland mainland.

Key Accountabilities

These will include:

  • Drive the development of the company’s EV Business Development strategy and lead the implementation of sales and customer led initiatives and exceed short, medium, and long-term sales revenue and profitability targets
  • Lead the Business Development Function and further develop it with coaching, mentoring and act as a role model
  • Foster close, respected relationships with Senior Stakeholders across the business, up to and including Board level
  • Represent the business on industry forums and other industry groups, acting as an ambassador for the Group
  • Develop new business opportunities and customer relationships to help the business meet its EV growth targets, whilst working alongside other Group companies to expand collaboration opportunities within Group customers
  • Lead the Business Development team to create the conditions for the maximisation of sales across the complete range of EV related power distribution products and solutions into the UK market
  • Support the UK Area Sales Managers in managing and converting project enquiries across its target sectors Commercial, Infrastructure, EV and Net Zero.
  • Drive specification of the Company’s products to key customer stakeholder groups such as iDNOs EV Service Providers (EVSPs), Charge Point Operators (CPOs), Consultants, Contractors, and End User Segments.
  • Lead the Business Development function to ensure the timely and successful implementation of new product and market initiatives into the market to support achievement of the business’s financial goals.
  • Support the Company’s forecasting and budgeting processes, and provide timely reports in line with business processes and manager requests
  • Provide support to the tendering and production teams in managing project orders and project delivery programmes

    • Develop Growth Strategy and Forecast.

  • Specific Management of Sales
    • Sales proposals, bids and quotes.
    • Sales Orders.
    • Field Sales.
    • Digital Sales if relevant.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience

Minimum

  • Extensive and proven engineering sales/business development experience in the EV Infrastructure sector.
  • Electrical or mechanical engineering Degree preferred, or relevant equivalent qualification / proven experience within the industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of working in sectors i.e. private networks, ICPs, IDNOs and of Channel distribution.
  • Ability to negotiate and close orders leading to profitable business for Lucy Electric EV Infrastructure
  • Strong people management experience.
  • Good command of the English language.
  • Current UK driving licence.
