Overview
HV Commissioning/Protection Engineer role at Lucy Electric. Location: Remote/Field-based. The role involves delivering installation, maintenance, and product support services for LV/HV assets across the Midlands, Central South and South East of England. You will work as part of a skilled Engineering division, supporting LV/HV services to clients and customers, and may lead projects when required.

Key Responsibilities
- Installation, commissioning, and fault finding on protection, automatic transfer systems and various control systems.
- Coordinate commissioning plans, schedules, and checklists to ensure commissioning activities and performance testing are executed efficiently.
- Development of commissioning procedures.
- Protection relays, synchronisers, transducers, primary and secondary injection testing, using various test/commissioning equipment.
- Commissioning and testing of HV assets using associated equipment (e.g., Omicron Campano 100, Omicron CT Analysers, Megger Sverker 750, Baur PGK 25/80E, Injection sets, Schneider LVP85510SP ACB Tester).
- Read and understand electrical drawings, SLDs, and control relay logic design documentation.
- Produce clear and professional job reports; ensure quality control and technical compliance per project requirements.
- Complete and transmit inspection check-sheets as required.
- Comply with Safety Management System and client safety rules.
- Prepare technical reports or contributions to reports in a timely manner.
- Support tendering and project managers with technical advice and customer communications as required.
- Facilitate a safe working environment during HV/LV work.
- Ensure work aligns with Lucy Electric and customer standards, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain authorisations per legislation and industry best practice.
- Liaise with team to understand and manage priorities.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Experience in multiple relays and capable of full commissioning and sign-off (examples include Alstom Electromechanical, VIP 300/400, Micrologic, G99, Micom P154/P122, REF, TEC System T15).
- Competency with testing equipment: VLF, Campano, Sverker, Pressure Test.
- Certified in electricity at work and experience delivering efficient services to customers on site or in planning environments.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety and Distribution Safety rules.
- Computer literate – MS Office.
- Full driver’s Licence, willingness to travel within the UK, and ability to work weekends as overtime or with time off in lieu.
