We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to ignite a love of Mathematics in our students. Could that be you?
This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated teacher to join the vibrant and supportive academic community at Lucton School.
As our Maths Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in developing students’ confidence, understanding and enjoyment of Mathematics.
You will deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, prepare pupils for GCSE and IGCSE examinations, and contribute to the teaching of Mathematics at A Level.
The successful candidate will be an innovative and reflective practitioner with strong subject knowledge, high expectations and a willingness to adapt, learn and contribute fully to the life of the school.

- About the Position
- Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.30pm
- Responsible to: Head of Maths
Your Responsibilities will include
- Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured and appropriately challenging Mathematics lessons.
- Teaching Mathematics across Key Stages 3 and 4 and contributing to the delivery of A Level Mathematics.
- Preparing students effectively for GCSE, IGCSE and, where appropriate, A Level examinations.
- Establishing high expectations for pupil achievement, behaviour, classwork and homework.
- Setting clear learning objectives and measurable targets based on pupils’ prior attainment.
- Adapting teaching to meet the needs of pupils with SEND, additional learning needs and those who are more able.
- Using assessment data, marking and feedback to inform future planning and raise attainment.
- Maintaining accurate records of pupil progress and preparing clear reports for parents.
- Contributing to curriculum planning, development and enrichment within the Mathematics department.
- Using technology and a range of teaching strategies to enhance learning.
- Acting as a Form Tutor, House Tutor or undertaking registration duties where required.
- Participating in extracurricular activities, school events, meetings and the wider life of Lucton School.
- Building positive and professional relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
- Upholding the school’s high standards of safeguarding, pastoral care and professional conduct.
About You
The successful candidate will have
- A good honours degree in Mathematics or a subject relevant to the role.
- Experience teaching Mathematics across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Experience preparing students for GCSE or IGCSE examinations.
- Excellent subject knowledge and the ability to deliver engaging and challenging lessons.
- Strong classroom management skills and high expectations of behaviour and achievement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to use assessment data to inform planning and support pupil progress.
- A genuine enthusiasm for teaching Mathematics and working with young people.
- A positive, flexible and proactive approach.
- Resilience, adaptability and a solution-focused mindset.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- A reflective approach and commitment to continuous professional development.
It would be advantageous to have
- A recognised teaching qualification, such as PGCE or QTS.
- Experience teaching A Level Mathematics.
- Experience working in an independent or boarding school.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or additional learning needs.
- Knowledge of different examination boards and assessment frameworks.
- The ability to contribute to curriculum development and Mathematics enrichment activities.
